This wasn’t the post I intended for this weekend. However, this question in my comments caught me off guard and amused me — a lot. ‘Are you Chat GPT’ was the extent of the comment. It was, to say the least, very unexpected. After spending a few minutes giggling over it, I replied in the comments, and with a brief video, assuring the commenter that I am not any form of AI. I thought the exchange was over and aside from the occasional fit of laughter, I moved on with my day.
The exchange was not quite done as I’d find out later. The commenter posted again with a clearer message – ‘I meant add some enthusiasm in to your voice’. Ahhh, so that was the root of the original comment and it finally made sense where this out of left field question had come from.
This time, I sat back and thought about it before replying. I thanked the commenter for their honest opinion, told them I’d do what I could, and admitted that I can probably be a little too laid back. See, he’d hit on something I’d wondered about for a while though I had no one to verify whether or not my perception was accurate.
As an introvert, I’m naturally reserved, keeping my thoughts and emotions close. This works in person since I’ve never had a poker face. Anyone could read me and guess how I feel about any number of things. But what works in person isn’t nearly as effective online, especially as I have a faceless channel and you, the viewers, rely only on my voice to determine how I feel or what I think.
But I’ll be honest. I’m not sure how to sound more enthusiastic. You’d think something like that would be easy. Yet I worry. I’m not a loud and boisterous person and I’m not around many overly enthusiastic people. What’s too much enthusiam? I don’t know. But I’m certainly willing to try because I agree with the commenter – I could be a little more animated. I appreciate that they took the time to let me know what they thought. So thank you for pointing that out, I needed to hear it.
And to those of you who have read this, I greatly appreciate each and every one of you.
Until next time, bye for now.
